Who We Help
Women's Health & Wellness
Individual 1:1
Do you suffer from digestive issues, such as bloating, constipation, diarrhea, and/or IBS symptoms? Have you been struggling for years to lose weight, only to find that nothing is changing? Do you lead a hectic, stress filled life?
It can be easy to fall into a routine of low energy, eating on the go, and having a general feeling of unwellness, in addition to a variety of other health concerns.
You don’t have to feel this way!
We can help you discover the root causes of your health concerns, help you reach your goals, and improve your overall wellness through nutrition. So much of our health and wellness begins in the gut, and through nutrition and lifestyle changes, we can start to reach our goals of feeling better.
There are so many reasons we don't find the time to focus on our own health. Sometimes we think it will be too hard to make changes, or that we don't have time. You're not alone! Many of us struggle with losing weight and keeping it off, or struggle silently for years with IBS symptoms that won't go away, or countless other concerns.
WE ARE HERE TO HELP!
Working together, we will create a plan that is unique for you. Through nutrition we will endeavour to help you feel your best every day. We will help you bring energy, balance and wellness back to your daily life and help you to feel your best.
Symptoms we can address include:
Digestive issues (gas, IBS, bloating, constipation, diarrhea), low energy levels, weight management, inflammation, allergies, blood sugar fluctuations, cardiovascular concerns, headaches, stuffy nose, itchy skin, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, eczema, hives and more.
Empowerment
I believe each person is strong and is able to accomplish many things. When we set health goals, it can seem like an huge obstacle to actually make changes. I am here to support you and empower you with tools, knowledge and the belief that you are able to make changes, and eventually reach your health and wellness goals. I’ll be your cheerleader!
Acceptance
In order to move forward and make changes, we need to accept ourselves for who we are and what brought us to this moment. We begin working together at whatever stage you are at, grounded in the affirmations by Louise Hay, "I am willing to begin where I am right now."

How do we get started working together?First, I recommend scheduling a complimentary 15 minute Discovery call. We can connect and I can hear what your reasons are for seeking a Holistic Nutritionst, what your concerns and goals are, and you can ask me questions as well. The next step will be to book an appointment that is right for you. I will send you detailed questionnaires and will evaluate your nutritional needs by identifying symptoms that indicate health imbalances – these are the nutritional reasons why you’re not feeling great, can’t lose weight, having digestive issues, have low energy, etc. Follow up appointments occur approximately 3-4 weeks apart

What is a Discovery Call?A Discovery Call is an opportunity for us to talk for about 15-20 minutes. It allows me to learn about why you are seeking a Holistic Nutritionist and what your health concerns and goals are so I can give you the best guidance possible. I will ask you a few questions about what has been going on in your health right now and how you want to feel in the future. It is also an opportunity for you to ask me questions. Together we can figure out if we are good fit to work together.
-
What can I expect from our sessions?Together we look at the root cause of your symptoms. We will review the questionnaires that you filled in prior to our first appointment and I will get a more detailed understanding about what your health and wellness goals are. Through working together towards your goals, we will bring your health and wellness back into balance. Follow up appointments occur approximately 3-4 weeks apart. What is a Holistic Nutritionist?Holistic Nutrition Professionals are certified in Natural Nutrition. They are trained in a very practical way to provide individuals with personalized client consultations as well as community education. We use our fundamental knowledge of nutrition, backed by evidence and research to provide information in a clear and simplified way. Holistic Nutritionists are able to connect the dots for a variety of health goals and concerns, get a full picture of your health concerns and root causes of your symptoms, and provide you with strategies and information to implement recommendations into your day to day life. As a Holistic Nutritional practitioner, I believe that everyone has unique nutritional needs and I work from a “holistic perspective” – I consider the whole person and how the body, mind and spirit interact. I provide customized and unique nutritional guidance and consultation for my clients based on their lifestyle, wellness, diet and health goals. Every person is unique.
-
Are Holistic Nutritionists Certified?Yes! I am a graduate of the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, the most established Canadian Holistic Nutrition School. As a certified Registered Holistic Nutritionist, I am a graduate of the Natural Nutrition Program from CSNN. Graduates of CSNN abide by a strict Code of Ethics and Scope of Practise.
-
What is Holistic Nutrition (Natural Nutrition)?Holistic Nutrition uses evidence-based knowledge to look at the nutrition and wellness of the whole individual. Instead of looking at just one part of a person, a holistic nutritionist assesses the whole health background of a person including their current dietary habits, emotional wellbeing and lifestyle habits to determine the root cause of their symptoms and health concerns. Holistic Nutrition is science based, with the philosophy that each person has unique nutritional requirements, and that the interaction of each person’s mind-body-spirit must be addressed for an individual to feel and remain well. A Holistic Nutritionist’s training focuses on science, physiology, pathology, body functions and symptoms, whole foods and quality food production, natural source supplements, healthy lifestyle practices, and the connections between the body, mind and spirit. Holistic Nutrition takes into account the unique needs and lifestyle habits, including diet and exercise as well as the emotional, mental and spiritual well being of each individual and uses that information to look at the root cause of symptoms that indicate health concerns and imbalances. Client’s needs are assessed through one-on-one consultations and focused questionnaires, resulting in health and lifestyle recommendations that are tailored to the individual’s unique needs.
-
What is the Scope of Practice for a Registered Holistic Nutritionist professional? The services offered by a CSNN graduate are grounded in the following principles: Acknowledgement that each person is biochemically distinct and has unique nutritional needs Awareness of the meaning of holistic nutrition; the interrelationship of mind, body and spirit; and the importance of addressing these interactive factors which are unique to each individual Promotion of whole, locally grown and organic foods; sustainable farming practices; and the necessity of living in a non-toxic environment The principles of prevention and self-responsibility are fundamental to any successful health care program. However, it is important that graduates do not make claims by using words such as prevent, treat, cure, and heal Recognition that supplementation is not a substitute for wholesome, nutritious foods but that it may be helpful. Only supplements with an NPN number should be recommended to clients, and the formulation and labelling of supplements should be independent of the graduate and their practice Respect for clients and for their wellness goals, personal tastes, morals, social, and life values Acceptance of the unique contribution of other health care providers, and the need to work co-operatively with them regardless whether they are of holistic or allopathic background. The main services provided by a CSNN graduate include the following: (a) Document client’s goals, needs, and plans (b) Evaluate client’s food selection, preparation and intake (c) Evaluate client’s lifestyle and overall feeling of well-being (d) Evaluate client’s use of dietary supplements (e) Identify client’s nutritional imbalance(s) and lifestyle habits without directly ordering lab tests, as this activity is reserved for licensed health care practitioners (f) Work with other health care professionals, if applicable, in order to determine all nutritional and lifestyle-changing needs of the client, including referring client to other health care professionals as deemed appropriate (g) Support the progress of the client’s health goals by creating an individualized wellness program, which will include the use of whole, nutrient-dense foods; menu plans; natural source supplements*; and lifestyle modifications – including the use of non-toxic, environmentally friendly household/personal products (h) Provide further guidance to the client, if necessary, by explaining food labels, and by offering food preparation techniques and shopping tips (i) Guide the client in the implementation of a long-term personal health plan, provide education when necessary, and offer ongoing assessments (j) Monitor the client’s personal health plan in order to reinforce participation in the achievement of the health goals (k) Act as a community educator to the public and to other health care professionals, developing curriculum, preparing manuals, writing articles, publishing books, and teaching (l) Promote health discussions in schools, workplaces, and community agencies (m) Bring holistic nutrition knowledge, principles, and philosophy to other professions.

What is the Code of Ethics of a Holistic Nutrition Professional? The Canadian School of Natural Nutrition has as its mission the education of the individual in the principles of holistic health care and the principles of natural nutrition, to further the well-being of people and the healing of planet Earth. To this end, a graduate of CSNN agrees to: -maintain an interest in the well-being of all human beings, regardless of colour, creed or nationality, and in the care of planet Earth. -respect the right of his/her client as an individual in all respects, as to personal tastes, morals and social values. -be non-judgmental as to the life values and experience of the client. -treat the client under all circumstances with due concern for the dignity of the individual. -respect the confidential nature of his/her relationship with the client and protect the confidentiality of assessments and recorded documents. -guide and counsel his/her client in the best way to achieve optimal health through natural nutrition, but always respect the right and need for the client to make the final decision in all wellness plans. -teach the client to accept responsibility for his/her own health choices and actions and accept full responsibility for the consequences of his/her own acts. -provide professional services only in those areas in which s/he has competence and training. -recognize the need to work co-operatively with other disciplines, holistic or allopathic, to best serve the client’s need, respecting the unique contribution of each discipline. -respect differences of opinion and exercise tact and diplomacy in interpersonal relations. -resolve to improve and maintain his/her professional competence in the field of natural nutrition and holistic health care. -accurately identify oneself using one of the approved CSNN designations and/or titles to avoid misleading the public about your role as a holistic nutrition professional.

Meet Samara Bordan
Welcome to Samara Bordan Nutrition! My name is Samara and I am proud to be the owner of Samara Bordan Nutrition, a Vancouver-based Holistic Nutrition practice.
When I discovered holistic nutrition and the philosophy that food and lifestyle changes could have immense effects on our health, I felt empowered and inspired. Change has never been easy for me, but once I started feeling better and more in control of my health, it was easier to take small steps towards understanding how my health was being impacted by what I was choosing to eat.
As my holistic nutrition education continued, I began to increasingly recognize the role that food plays in handling a variety of health concerns. In my family alone, we struggle with multiple health issues: my husband is lactose intolerant, I suffered for years with IBS, one child has a severe nut allergy, and our other child has celiac disease. That's a lot under one roof!!
I have learned how to navigate our world with life threatening allergies, and how to empower our children to feel confident and independent when outside our home. I have more energy and feel more grateful for knowing how to handle stress and how it affects my health and body. I am amazed by how when we make simple changes in how we treat our bodies, mind and spirit, our health can improve in many ways.
Wherever you are right now in your health and wellness journey, we can work together to help you feel inspired to look after your body and overall wellness.
Reach out and let’s talk!

body, mind and spirit"
